cnc to pwm servo bob
« on: November 06, 2017, 02:33:42 PM »
Inspired by joules' cnc thead, i thought I'd ask here about this…

Anyone know or have experience with a breakout board sthat will drive pwm servo amps (i.e.  takes input from mach or linuxcnc, outputs pwm control to servo amp and reads quadrature  from encoders)

I have  set of servo motors and amps (glentec) but no means to control them .

The only thing i can find that might be suitable is. pico board fron the usa , but it is an expensive thing to experiment with.

Thoughts?

We use one of the Mesa boards http://www.mesanet.com/ with linuxcnc and our own amps on this:

A recent experience where I tried to build a servo system around some parts that I already had (in this case a couple of motors) taught me that it's cheaper just to buy a complete AC brushless kit .
YMMV
