NVR switch not working

(1/3) > >>

NormanV:
Can somebody help me please.
The NVR switch on my lathe has stopped working. It is forty years since I had a look inside one of these and I have forgotten everything I knew (it wasn't much!).
If I press the plastic bit by the yellow label on the front the motor runs as normal but stops when I release it. When I press the start button nothing happens.
Thanks in advance.

John Rudd:
Norman,
I suspect the coil that holds it all together is open circuit.....
You will probabky need to replace the nvr unit......

NormanV:
Which part is the NVR unit?
That was quick!

John Swift:
does this diagram help

when you push the green N/O button
the mains supply will energise the contactors coil
providing both the red stop switch and motor overload switch is closed

this will close a N/O contact wired in parallel with the start switch to maintain the coils supply until you push the stop button

john

NormanV:
My question was a bit more basic. Is the nvr bit the lower of the two parts in the switch?
