Carbide insert question
« on: October 20, 2018, 05:24:47 PM »
Evenin' all :D

I've just taken delivery of a big load of used carbide inserts from a certain well known auction site. There's basically 4 types; the diamond ones were easy & I've found someone selling a pair of suitable holders for just about £12 (LH & RH). So happy bunny :)

However, I've also got a stack of triangular inserts, I think they're TC..0602 (not sure what the 3rd/4th digits are. The inscribed circle is about 3mm radius, hence the 06. Each side is about 9.75mm. I'm having a real struggle trying to find a suitable holder, they all seem to start at 09, not 06...  Does anyone have any ideas? Not knowing the middle 2 characters is making searching very difficult...

Cheers!
Ade.

PS: Got another 2 types of grooving/parting off style inserts as well, I've no idea if I can find holders for those, I'm not that bothered if I can't.
Cheers!
Ade.

Aaaahhhh, ignore me I'm being a muppet.  :zap:

Like Nasa, I'm mixing my metric with my imperial - or, more accurately, my ISO with my ANSI.... it's an tcmt<guessing at mt 0902.. 'cos it's the cutting edge length I'm after!

At least, I THINK that's it.

Off to see if I can find a cheapo toolholder to try out my guess...
Cheers!
