Reviving Last Years Christmas Jumper !
« on: December 14, 2018, 04:54:47 AM »
Last year I was given a jumper, covered in Penguins, some of which had LED flashing modules embodied in the knitwear. Obviously have some sort of motion sensor as they only flashed when moved.

300 odd days later the poor Penguins have run out of steam - the batteries must be flat. Resisting the 'chuck it out' brigade, and the 'you'll wreck it getting the modules out' comment I set too this morning, armed with a letter opener, and very carefully spread the threads without breaking them, to release one of the modules.

Well that was a waste of time - not unsurprisingly, a totally encapsulated transparent module that even hacking apart would not allow a battery change

. . . .looks like the Penguins aren't going to flash THIS year - even eBay failed to provide me with similar modules, which actually is quite a surprise in it self !

Surely you aren't going to give up that easily?

Maybe dremel the backside as needed to get it open.
The rest will then be easier.

A damp teatowel can remove the local heat.
