Wacky machining tricks!

Somehow my other grinder flange went walkabout during remodelling...
Thus, off to the lathe!  What do normal people do when this kind of thing comes up? 
Now, the wacky bit is that I parted off the flames and thought "hey, I can schwack this sucker on my new magnetic chuck and take it for its first test drive!"  I, um, might have learned a few things in the next "few" minutes.  The takeaway is 0.001" is a healthy cut on a mag chuck.  But, the washer looks great!
