Morse Taper
appletree:
Hi Today I wanted to produce a spot face, I have loads of tooling, I pulled an 1 1/4 end mill out of the drawer (had it 40 years Tang and no draw bar) and popped it into the MT4 spindle of my mill (loads of slack) so reached for the MT3 to MT4 sleeve, (sticking out a mile)!
So the question, is there such a thing as a MT 3 1/2 morse taper?

seadog:
Not that I've ever seen. There is the so called 4.5 used on Boxford and Harrison lathes.
smiffy:
Is it possible that it might be Jarno or Brown & sharp taper https://www.engineersedge.com/manufacturing/jarno_taper_size_chart_13464.htm Mike
appletree:
Thanks for the replies, still stumped, looked up morse"s table and yes there is MT 4 1/2.
Looked at the Jarno but does not tally, Jarno 8 or 9 is the nearest.
The fat end of mine is @ 1.07 inch, Less than no 9 at 1.125 inch
The diameter is not down to 1.0 inch (Jarno 8 fat end) until half way along the taper.
So who knows, that is probably why it looks unused LOL
