    • The Warco WM180 Lathe - Modifications
Hello from Cheshire
« on: September 10, 2009, 12:44:02 PM »
Hello folks,

I’m just a very amateur tinkerer, so I’ve joined to look and learn from the gurus on here. I’ve owned a lathe since I bought a used baby Perris (forerunner of the Cowells ME 90) for £20 in the ‘70s. Now I’ve retired, I bought a Warco WM180. Not exactly a precision toolroom machine, I know, but at least it is a bit bigger. Then I found a Mk 1 Dore Westbury on Ebay. So far, I seem to use the WM180 to make improvements for the DW and vice-versa. I don’t use the Perris much these days, but it may have a future sitting on the DW table as a horizontal indexer.
Now, I’m looking round for a proper project, having put enough bells and whistles on the Warco lathe for the time being. If anyone is interested in modding the WM180, my (humble) efforts are detailed at http://andysmachines.weebly.com .

Cheers,
Andy

I've cut the end off it twice, but it's still too short

Hi Andy

Welcome to the collective  :borg:

I'm pretty close to you too.... North Wales.  Can't be too far away?

I like your saddle stop a lot..... Nice idea, I'm already wondering about one like it on my lathe...... Course I've got to get some time in the shop first!!

Anyway, I should be asleep.... See you around the forum

With so many members nearby, maybe I should forget the computer and just go outside with a loudhailer
