Hello to everyone!
« on: September 27, 2009, 12:17:21 PM »
I have been reading everything here that I can, and I have to say this is the nicest bunch of people I have seen in a forum.  I look forward to making some friends here and learning learning learning!

I have had a CNC Taig mill for a few years and recently got a 7 x 14 lathe.  I have a lot to learn, and appreciate any help that I am sure I will get here.

Sorry for so long without a reply.

Mostly what I have done with the mill is to make tools for the mill, which I have found fun to do.  Also some "art" type stuff, lettered glass with diamond bits to look etched, some V-Carving of portraits, spiral wood things with the 4th axis, and other ways to waste time.

Lately I have been getting in to building an engine, just messing around for now.

Oh, and last Friday I was talking to the brother of a friend of mine about my shop and he said some magic words: "My father had a South Bend lathe, its been sitting wrapped up in storage at my mother's house.  You want it?".  I did! I did!  I picked it up Monday morning, decent shape overall.  I will start a new thread about it.

Can you tell me what happens when you bend over, the sun doesn't come up all of a sudden, does it?

You lucky person.

I was going to say something else but thought better of it.
