90 degree V twin engine (my own design)
« on: December 18, 2009, 07:29:29 PM »
Gentlemen, I started a thread on my latest project on another forum. The length of the thread is too long to start over here so rather than duplicate it I'll just post several pictures of the engine. I started the design a couple of months back. It will be a 90 degree V-twin engine with a bore of 1.00 and a stroke of 1.25. The basic construction will be 6061 aluminum with iron barrels. It will be an overhead valve configuration with exposed valve train. The crankshaft will ride on ball bearings and it will have an oil pump for lubricating the other essentials.

Here's a couple more shots. The first is the engine with the timing cover installed and the second is an internal shot of the gear cavity with the oil galley cover and oil pump covers in place.

Wow, George, that looks impressive! Did you do your own casting?

I've cut the end off it twice, but it's still too short

Andy....
No castings..... barstock only.  The build log is over at HMEM and it's simply beyond incredible. Almost makes me want to go plug my mill up and pee on it....LOL

Very nice indeed George

I do like the shape. A huge amount of thought involved in a project like that I'm sure.....  :smart:

Takes me hours, days to plan a few cuts in some of my humble offerings!!

Most impressed

George,

What Chuck said,  :bugeye:  :jaw:  :bugeye:  :jaw:

Very nice finish. I'm sure there'll be more bling later once it's done.
