You got a chuckle out of me.

It's almost like the box is saying "leave me alone". I think it would drive you mad after a while.  :coffee:

That's a clone of a toy inspired by "The Addams Family".  There "Thing", a disembodied hand, reaches out to pull the switch.  I had one of those many years ago.

Sure {in the dim and distant past...... ::) } I had a clockwork coin saving box that was a combination of the two,....   you put the coin on the top, and a (luminous!) plastic hand came out and snatched the coin,.......  in pulled it inside,...    or has the 'oldtimers gene' kicked in?????  :) :)

Cheers,  Fred

I use to race RC boats but sold them all a few years ago.  Last week I found a new 1/4 servo in the work shop and was going to list it on E-bay, but now I have a use for it!

I might build one of these this winter.

Hello Madmodders. My first post here, so may I take this opportunity to thank HS93 for guiding me towards such a nifty forum.
For anyone interested, here are a couple possible circuits for the Useless Machine gizmo. The first is designed around a bog-standard 555 timer chip, while the second circuit is a simplified version, albeit it means you have to modify the servo for continuous rotation (remove the gearing end stop, remove the internal circuitry, connect the two motor wires direct to the DPDT).

Happy modding.

Welcome to the collective PMK.  :borg:

Checked out your web site. Very interesting little circuits you have there. Looks like one or two will come in handy for me in the future.
