Donations to the site - Discussion/Thanks
« on: February 17, 2010, 02:24:28 PM »
With the pace that the site is increasing in size, I foresee an upgrade to the server very soon. A few people have asked how they can donate to the site to keep it going etc... Originally, I was against donations. I have been financing this out of pocket. But it is coming to a time where either donations or discreet advertising to help cover the costs is needed.

Feel free to donate, or not. It is not a requirement.

Er ... I think I have donated, not sure, I may have reversed my First & Second names  ::)   ::)   :hammer:   :hammer:

Will have to see ... maybe it will work anyway ..

edit  Appeared as a 'Pending Transaction'. Maybe I've got away with it.

My mind wanders a bit. Sometimes it wanders back, and I don't notice ... makes little difference anyway ...

I have a few modest talents. Knowing what I'm doing isn't one of them.

I hope the donations are sufficient so that you don't have to have advertising.

How much does it cost to host this site?

What will it cost for the upgrade?

If it is none of my business, let me know and I will not be offended.  :)

Sam,

On another forum, we had the same dilemma......

If I remember correctly, we raised around £40. It was said, this would provide support for several years......

Thats almost $75 USD. Would cover 2 months of the dedicated server. I won't be taking donations for long. I still intend to carry this mostly out of my pocket. To get to where I want us to be... as bandwidth increases... about $59USD a month.

I just paid. If you need anymore feel free to ask again.

I for one DO NOT WANT OR NEED ADVERTIZING.

I am sick to death of BS clutter and unwanted rif-raf trash filling up my computer screen. That’s reminiscent of  adds in a library.!

All the best.             Anthony.
