Hello from germany
« on: June 26, 2010, 07:52:44 PM »
Hi,

coming over from homemodelenginemachinists, I want to take a look on this board too :)

Little information about me:
My name is Stefan, from germany, living in a small village in bavaria (thats where the good beer is from). I'm working for a big german electronics company in a laboratory, attending mechanical and electrical tests and also building the needed test equipment by myself..most of my off time I spend in my shop...building tools, change stuff on my machines and building model steam engines..

Hope I can add something usefull to this board..

Stefan

Hi stefang,
"bavaria (thats where the good beer is from)"
Yes sir, that´s true, and a sound attitude
Although every country seems to like their own brews well enough.
Welcome, enjoy, and post many pictures!

Welcome to MadModder Stefan. I know that you have fine beer there and many fine machinists as well. Perhaps when you have a chance you can show us some pictures of your shop and some of your projects.  :D :D

Cheers

Heya Stefan!

Welcome to the collective :borg:

Germany... very cool. I intend one day to visit there. Home of some of my favorite beers and cars! Was trying to learn German a few years back... one day I will start again.

Herzlich Willkommen, Stefan.

Hier hast Du eines der besten Foren gefunden.
Deutsch zu sprechen ist bestimmt nicht schwer - jedes 5 jährige Kind in Deutschland spricht perfektes Deutsch...

I hope the German team can also show a perfect Football Game this afternoon...

Thanks for the welcome

Ah, some of you speak german, very cool :)

Impressive, if you consider, that even the most germans can't speak it very well... :D
I think learning german is everything else than easy, if its not your native language..so much exceptions and rules..

Welcome Stefang,

Guess what nationality "Bernd" is. Yup, born in East Germany. Came over when I was 6. That was some 53 years ago. Can still speak it but can't write. Can read some of it as long as the words aren't to long.

Anyway, we need some pics of that shop and those projects, no matter what they are. We're not restricted to just steam engines as you'll see if you browse through the forum.

Du kommst aus Deutschland, deine Name ist Stefan.  Das ist eine größe Überraschung.  (nur ein Witz)

Du kannst sehen, mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut, aber meine Frau sagt, ich muß trainieren.

That was murder.  Enough of that.

Just saying "hi".  I live at basically the other end of your country.  Maybe I can pick your brain over some of the better makers of tools here.  Always a problem to sort out the good stuff.

I was going to chime in with some German, but it seems a few other have beaten me to it.  To be understood in German is easy, to master it is impossible. :)  I spent 6 months in Germany and was almost fluent in speech by the time I was done.  Now since I've had no reason to use it I've forgotten almost everything I learned.  I do love how the language works though - don't make new words, just put other words together to make a new meaning ... then put those words together to make yet another meaning.  Before you know it, you have the entire alphabet twice over in a single word.  I could never master the gender of words though, as we don't have that concept in english and it seems like it's just memorization.  Der, Die, Das, it's all the same to me. :)  Don't even get me started on the number of ways there are to say "you".

Anyway, welcome.  Enjoy your stay.

-Sparky
