Glass scorpion display. ( Very old project!)
« on: November 03, 2008, 04:53:03 PM »
I was given a gift of a Glass scorpion Way back in 2000 (makes you feel old ehh!!!)

Well it was glass, so light would make it pop IMO.
So I set about making a mounting for it with a powerfull blue light...
This was way back before I had the lathe and mill, it was constructed in my bedroom using an aluminium project box from an electronics store on a 2x2' table with the use of a dremel style hobbie drill and a few burrs and drill bits  :dremel:

Well on with the show....

The inards.

And the power socket and switch (the battery feed is cut off when a power plug is inserted)

Then I drilled the constellation of Scorpio into the front face of the stand (it being the Sign I was born under and all!! Hence the glass scorpion!)

So then it ended up like this..... (oh and the plastic than the scorpion stands on...The front of a CD case altered to fit inside ;D )

And in the dark....

Well this one is just to show you, you don't need loads of fancy machinery..... But it helps!!!  ;)

Thank you Bernd.... I used to love lighting things up... Hence the torches etc!

I have, somewhere pictures of a couple of crystal dragons I did for my brother??? Was a long time ago.... So will have to wait and see if I stumble accross them?
I think that's why he thought of me doing the bit for the water feature?

Maybe I'll do some more in the future? ... Well it's always there if I need it ehh!?!

Anyone else got some oldies to show?
