Hello fellas
« on: January 15, 2011, 11:37:55 AM »
Normally I'm just a lurker, but this site is just what I'm looking for.
Soon to retire from the military, love to tinker.
Bought a small lathe/mill combo, slowly gathering tooling.

Great site!

Hi SC,

Good to see you here.

Which branch of the military were you in ?  It will probably take you a while to become used to being a civvy again, it did me.

The new tools will help with this 'transition' period. :dremel:

Dave.

Hello Dave,

I was in the infantry for 18 years, then changed trade to EME in 2003. I am still currently serving, waiting for a Med realease.

My 2 boys (teens) already tell me I'm too Army!!

Glad to meet you Rob,
Very limited experience. The most interesting thing I've made so far was a small connecting rod bearing out of brass for an antique outboard motor.
Got it right on the second try! Within a thou :)

But mostly I'm still learning how to use the lathe & mill
