hello world, im new to this site from the uk
« on: February 02, 2011, 05:55:44 PM »
hello
im new here
i was looking for information on a warco 220 lathe that i recently bought and found a link to this site.
so, here i am , so far ive found this site informative and frequented by knowledgable people whom i think i can learn from,
i am the kind of person who likes to have a go at making, or repairing anything when it breaks and i like
land rovers (i have a 1972 series 3 swb soft top) so,,,,,,,,,,, repairing anything when it breaks  can be quite
often with me
i also like making things and to enable me to do that i have in my workshop (garage)
a mig welder, arc welder,  lathe + various tools ive collected or inhereted over the years and a lot of shelving to put it on.
last year i decided to try to make a plasma cutter out of my mig welder by reversing the polarity (easy) and installing an air filter to it
with a switch to change gas supply solenoids(obviously it didnt work, the earth return i had wasnt up to it) :zap:
and i'll be trying again later this year when i have time (im married with one kid, so not much spare time).
the most recent ''project'' ive been doing is to install a twin cylinder 12v compressor with compressed air storage tank
under the passenger seat of my land rover so i can inflate my tyres from an outlet at the front and rear of the landy,
the stored compressed air can also be used to power the large air horns ive installed as well  :bugeye:

Hi dieselboy,
I have a Warco 220/Mashstroy C210T lathe and am willing to answer any questions you may have.

To be honest, as this lathe does seem to be very much a minority, any questions probably won't hold much interest for the vast majority, so if you want to communicate via the personal messages or direct on latheman@btinternet.com, then please feel free. I usually check at least daily. Incidently, for me it's best if you ask questions as this will then give me a starting point.

Regards,

Peter G. Shaw

thank you peter.
 my name is malcolm
I have this particular lathe as it was offered to me via my father in law, who in turn knows someone who had
unfortunately recently lost her husband, she wanted to move to a smaller home and was selling off his
model making machinery, ie lathe , drill stand, grinding wheel, model engines, track and carriages etc.
I stumbled upon this site recently while looking for instructions for the lathe,
it came with a selection of cutting tools and a thing called a ''vertical slide'' which i think is for milling!!!

ok, here they are
its a mess out there as ive got too much stuff and my garage is only around 3mtrs x 6mtrs,
whenever i want to do something in there i have to rearrange stuff or just take it out then
put it back later.but when i do mig or arc welding i find its safer to do it outside (where there is less to catch fire)
