You're probably right, isn't the arc stand just on the left as you go in? Think it will be a bit congested there, their sales would probably plummet with us lot standing / sitting around! :palm:

I thought that was Chronos!

Arc is usually in the back area on the RHS.

It has a very narrow gangway down that side. I even managed to run over a chap down there last year. I couldn't see him for the crowds.

But I wasn't injured.

Dave,

Has it been looked into though? It's not like it's a trade stand so there wouldn't be a fee would there? I know the only thing the Model Engineering Club I'm in choose to pay for is insurance for the models.

Hi Nick

Not sure about club stands .. but ..

A few years ago a remote aquaintance from Holland has a company that does control systems for Model Railways.

He was thinking of a stand at, IIRC, the NEC in Brum. The cost would have been some four times what it would be in Holland for the same set-up.
Not including the transport costs from Holland.

Decided it was not feasible ..

I seem to remember some considerable gum-nashing on the subject on the ME forum.

Some months ago though .. IIRC that nice Mr. J Stevenson had some input to it ... or maybe it was something else...

I cannot imagine any exhibition organiser doing it for nowt ...  .... why would they ??

I once spent half an hour chewing the fat with the guy that runs Macmodels I asked him how come he doesn't have a trade stand at the shows, he said the cost was just too prohibitive even for a small stand he would have to do more than a couple of months business in three days, to recover the cost of just the stand without all the hassle of getting the stock to and from the show and overnight accomodation for the staff etc etc, far easyer to get business off the web.

Small single stand in the second hall runs about £700 at Harrogate and £1200 at the Midlands show.

Hi Dave, John & Stew. I can understand it costing a lot for trade stands, you probably get a fair percentage of the Model Engineering population pass through there over the weekend!

However, without the models they don't have a show. I'm 99.99% sure it doesn't cost anything for club stands, in fact, at some of the other steam fairs they pay you for taking model traction engines and the like. If madmodder wanted a stand, it should be the same as any other club as we aren't a profit making organisation and should be able to advertise the site like all the other clubs do.

I'll be able to find out through our club as we are having a stand there again this year, actually I also used to know Lou Rex (the organiser) many years ago.

Correct, club stands are free.
If enough interest was developed and enough tat [ sorry desirable goodies ] were available for show then Mad Modder may well warrant a stand.
If anyone wants to get a prospectus or whatever ready I'm more than willing to see Lou, who I know very well [ I drink his beer every Saturday night at the show !!  ] to see if he's willing to grant space.
