Anyone belong to the 4x6bandsaw group ?
« on: February 18, 2011, 06:22:10 AM »
Tried to join on account of my new 30year old Warco bandsaw. Was pending for a few days - now no longer pending  :(

If anyone belongs to this group any chance of a word with the moderator ?

Ever hopeful

I belong to the group.

I can post a message on the group telling the mod he needs to approve you.
What name did you use?

Best,

Nelson.

Hi Hobby-Machinist

picclock is the name, the same as the other yahoo groups I belong to. Same other details including email (reluctant to state hear due to spam).

If you can help I would be grateful. This is the first 4x6 I have owned so any info or advice on tuning or blades would be welcome. As a non member I can't even view the uploaded files of the group.

Many thanks

Ok, I posted that a guy under your username wants to join, please re-register and let's see if it happens this time.

Hi Hobby-Machinist

Many thanks for your efforts.

Tried to rejoin and got :

>>You are currently a pending member of this group, which means that your membership has not yet been approved by the moderator.

So according to yahoo the membership is still pending.

However I noticed on the 4x6 messages that others had succeeded in joining by changing their user name (something to do with a spam filter ?).

I think my next move must be to leave the group (?), then reapply with a different user name and hope the spam filter doesn't kick in .. .

Best Regards

It might be better to leave your current "picclock" application in the pipeline, and join under another name. Then, if the picclock application does eventually get approved, you will have the user name you want and can cancel the second membership.

@ Andyf

Problem with that is it won't let you reapply.

In the bit where it usually says Join this Group it just says membership pending - sigh  :bang:

Still to give yahoo groups there due, they have allowed me to acquire and learn or relearn an awful lot of knowledge. Without the groups and the people who subscribe to them I'd be really struggling.

So I'll give it another day or two, then cancel my 'pending membership' and try reapplying under a different name.

Best Regards

Just to say I finally got accepted using a different name, which once I was accepted I changed back to my normal one. Thanks to all who tried to expedite matters.

So if you want to join 4x6bandsaw group, and you get 'pending' for more than a week, make an alias in yahoo groups with a different name, and reapply.

Good luck

Try Grizzly... they have the 4x6 and from what I understand, they have good spares...
