new from arkansas
« on: February 21, 2011, 02:11:02 AM »
I had a little trouble getting here.  It has been some time since I registered but could never get the email to confirm untill the other day.  I have had a cumins 7x12 and a harbor freight micro mill for about 5 years.  never got serious with them until recently.  I intend to make a sort of copy of henry fords first engine.  Today I have been working on a flywheel.  I started with a 6 1/2"  1" chunk of cast iron.  have faced both sides and outside and then thinned the center in preperation to cut 6 spokes in it.  It may be a bit large for a 7/8 piston but was the largest I could fit on the lathe so I can go bigger on piston if I have too.  I have taken a few pictures and will post when the flywheel is done.  I intend to bore for a 1/2 shaft.   John

Welcome to the forum John.  I have that 47158 Micro Mill.  Had it about 8 years.  Good little machine if used within its capabilities.  We like lots of pictures here.
Will be glad to see any mods you have done to your equipment or tools you have made.  Enjoy.
