Jason.

The Japanese have installed in there office blocks fiber optic cables running through the entire length of the buildings and branching out into office spaces flooding it with sunlight, I read somewhere they save 40% on energy costs alone but utilizing the sunlight, also they have special flower pots with grass and flowers growing in the rooms each being supplied with its own little fiber optic light source.

That was an interesting video thank you for posting it.

Happy days    Anthony.
If you cant fix it, get another hobby.

Wouldn't work around here.  The color of the sky is usually grey.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_tube  My grandparents have one of these in their bathroom, it works great even for grey skies.

I can't find any bottles long enough to fit through my roof to the inside rooms. To much attic space. I'd need a bottle that is 6 foot tall.

I think some of us would have had bit of of a problem this year with the temps at what they were.

Kvom,
I've seen those light tubes using fiber optics. That would be ideal for the hermit in the cellar. Natural sunlight in the basement, that is if and when the clouds aren't out.

bottles would last 1 summer here approx (9 months), dry rot is a big problem. Right now im running (8) 6 foot tube lights.

I want to look into LEDS for lighting sources on my lathe & mill.  I'd like to string up a few thousand of them to light the shop up.
