O ring chord I would thin its liek a continuous length of o ring section

Looks good Rob, how long did it actually take to machine and also write the programme?

Very nice.

How was it held to the mill fixture plate?

I wonder if we could go through the alphabet with Dave's  :D

Great stuff Rob

Tell me what are you going to put in that O ring groove,

Stew

After you are finished going through the alphabet you are going to have to start going by number. I just counted them up and there are at least 29 Dave's. No wonder it's getting confusing.

Cheers

Hi Stew ,,,,,,, Just as Jason replied ,,,,, i will make one from O ring cord  :dremel:

Just cut to the required length and super glue the ends  :med:

Hi Jason ,,,,,,, About 3/4 of an hour for the 3D computer model ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 1 1/2 hours for the CAM /G code part ,, i am still feeling my way around that part  and 3 hours 47 minutes of CNC machine time  :dremel:

Rob,
How was it held to the mill fixture plate?
DaveH

Hi Dave ,,,,,,,,,, Four M3 socket cap screws from the underside of the plate screwed into the part were the 4 fixings would go to attach the part to the engine ,the part was spaced up from the fixture plate with 4 washers i had ground to the same thickness  ,,,, the holes were then drilled M4 clear and counter bored  so it could be bolted to the engine .

Don ,,,,,,  how many Dave's

I recon they would make a good drive belt for a small engine Governor

:smart:

I'll google O ring cord and see what it brings up

Thanks

Good to see this one underway again, the cap looks fab but should it not read "gas" as its an American design :)

BTW turned some corian last week, machines easily with both HSS and the non ferrous tips that Glanze do, so the plugs should be easy.

Still drilling holes... Sometimes, in the right place!

Still modifying bits of metal... Occasionally, making an improvement!

Jason ,,,,,,,,, I agree it would look better with a more ye olde style GAS on the cap ,,i just used the standard fonts ,,, maybe next time  :med: ,,,,, Probably have ago at the plug next , still thinking on the best way to get the most out of the Corrain you sent up ,,, as i may as well make 10 wile set up . :dremel:

The engine build will be a bit slow over the next mouth as i have sold my CNC mill to fund new CNC mill project  :dremel:  ,,,,,,,, well as soon as my parts get here  :coffee:

Well, notwithstanding the lavish compliments        ... was it cnc ???

Reason I ask, I tried to engrave OIL on a cap I made about a year ago, sort of freehand with the XY dials and it was not very successful.

I claimed it was Rustic Font ...

It was rubbish  ...

In the post two up Rob quoted

"J was less impressed coming home to pans of green stuff bubbling away on the stove"

Not sure if that was part of his plating experiences or his cooking.............

Hi saw

It's the way the speed is governed ...

On some a mechanism causes the exhaust valve to stay open at max revs, thereby stopping the engine firing ..

Or stops the inlet valve opening ..

So, they fire a few of times, then idle a bit, then back to firing .... etc etc

Or something like that.
