Yuletide
« on: December 20, 2008, 11:44:48 PM »
It is getting very close now to the season to be merry.

I would like to wish friends, both old and new a

VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

But please remember, if you want to drink, get someone else to drive. We want you to be here after the new year.

Plus another little thing, no matter how badly off you think you are in the world, there is always someone else worse off than yourself.

Bogs, Marilyn (SWMBO), John Jnr (g/son) and of couse, the dynamic duo, Bandit the dog and Vinnie the mog.

To All

Have A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Let Safety, Moderation and Common Sense prevail and we will all be here for another year.                      :D :) :D

Right now we have lots of snow and a promise of more to come so are guaranteed a white Christmas. My son will love it as he has 3 snow machines for the family. Me, I stay where its warm and let someone else shovel the snow. :coffee:

Cheers

To All,

Nice work on the house Ralph. All that's missing is a bit of snow.

Bogs the reason I drink is the SWMBO driving. That's why I stay home and drink. Don't have to far to go then.

More importantly, did you enjoy doing WHAT you did?

As I tell the guys at hunting camp every year:  It's a good thing I enjoy this, as I don't seem to be very good at it!

This has been around for a few years but I always get a chuckle from it

A Home Machinist The Night Before Christmas.

T'was the Night before Christmas and all through the shop,
The machines were all silent, the phase converter stopped.

The change gears were hung on the cabinet with care,
in hopes that when needed, they'd all still be there.

I was surfing on my laptop, kicked back on the couch
SWMBO had been shopping, she was already passed out.

I heard someone rustling out near the shop door
so I grabbed the shotgun, it was 10:44.

In his red suit and hat, he didn't look rough
Said, "Your neighbor claims you're good at fixing odd stuff."

Well, he looked like a cross between Forrest and Harold,
So I calmed down and lowered the old double barrel.

He said, "I know it's late and I hate to be pushing,
but this old sleigh has a worn steering bushing."

"I'm in a pickle, I'm nowhere near done.
I've got to make Kamchatka before 12:01."

I told him I'd help out, and opened the door,
He sat down and we chatted while I measured the bore.

I fired up a lathe and whipped him one out,
Tolerance under a thousandth, no doubt.

He said "what's the charge?" I said,"dont worry.
Just get loaded up, you really need to hurry"

He stroked his white beard, then smiled and said "here!"
and produced from his sack, a case of good beer.

I helped him get loaded and he thanked me some more,
That sleigh was steering better than ever before.

And I hear him mutter as he left in a whirl,
"At least there's a few machinists left in this world!"

On a lighter note now, we've all been to dance classes and would like to share our experiences with you.

Have a real good time over the holidays.

"The internet just a figment, of my imagination!'

Raise the Dead!

and I'm working on the first two!

Steve and Bernd,

If it cost me a million dollars to make just one person smile, it would be worth it. In your cases, I am at least two million bucks up already. A good profit I would say.

Too much doom and gloom about in the world at the moment, so lets all just enjoy what little we have, smile and be merry, and of course, be careful out there.
