How will the CI ring wear in the bronze cylinder ?

I have only used CI rings in CI cylinders , I do use 'O' rings in bronze or soft packing

Nice work BTW I am not criticising just asking as I am knocking up a triple expansion engine that uses a bronze block and bronze rings , I an thinking of using CI as i know it will work

Hi
Stuart
I think the iron rings and piston should work ok
(if anyone has views i would like to hear them)

Mike
It would certainly power a boat but sadly i have no room for one

Started on the cross head guide

I had a hell of a job trying to clamp things in to place and then drill and tap them
The weld tacks will be milled off  :D :D :D

Bolted and dowell pinned
Propper job

Hi
Rotary tables are a steep learning curve
Pleased with the result though

I had a feeling this was inside the other half of this block
The hard bit is getting it out

The rod needs cutting to length some threads and silver solder
A bit of taper turning and some file work
John

I made up a dummy con rod to get the length right

I could not help running it up in the lathe

Wow this is going to me massive! Looks great, I like that base casting and bearing caps.  The scale is just right, easy to see all the pieces working.

Hi
Made a start on the front colums (22 mill stainless round bar)
Drill and tap one end screw cut the other and set to length.
They looked ok but very plane
Rob wilson recond on a taper .
Out with my freshly made drive dog

The surface finish is astounding (for me )

Very nice job going on here, I like to see an engine come together with each part dictating what comes next, and the ability to decide on the fly, how to do each little bit.  It makes for a very personal engine, and I have to say, you are going to need a real boiler for that job, when it is finished.     Cheers, Mad Jack

Hi
Made a start on the pattern for the bottom cylinder cover
MDF glued together
Needs a bit of filleting and some paint

Machining it will be interesting
