Scott,

I'm using Firefox at the moment, I did try with IE8 still got the same, so it must be my computer blocking it.

I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for your help.

DaveH,

If I may chip in, me thinks your PC has got a bug (virus).  :( That regestering to view sound very suspicious.

Abraham.

I might have, who knows.

I have anti virus thingy and an iternet security programme called Bit defender, normally informs me if something is wrong.

But there again my computer knowledge is miniscule.

Maybe somewhere I need to turn something on or off :D

I'm a little confused....

Why would these   http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=c+spanner    be $150 in the USA?

They are only £10 ish!

Still, I bet you had fun making the tooling?  :dremel:

Oh and just to be part of the alternate use of this thread.....  Pic' issues..... Not here  :)

::) I also get the yellow frogs like Dave...

 does remind me of the new lathe

Apparently Imageshack checks your IP address to view the picture, and if it's not from a domain that is registered with them, one can't see the pictures...
Looks like Southern Africa's ISPs are not registered with them.
Only way is to create an account with ImageShack so you can log in then.
No way I'm going to register domains with them; I have Internet access through three different ISPs as well as my corporate one....
Might be tempted to create a login at Imageshack in future, but not yet though.

So for now, yellow frogs it will be then

Don't know if it would work but have you tried logging onto MM through a proxy server that hides your IP address, this might allow you to view the pics ??

Heya All,

Yeah So like... the issue I ran into.. I had a feeling using those flat metal bicycle spanners would bend as the nuts were a bit tighter than I was wanting.. and actualyl they were painfully tight against each other. Took the use of my knee, and both hands at 80-90 percent to get them to un-bind with each other.

30 bucks for the adjustable ones from WT Tool. http://www.wttool.com/index/page/category/category_id/16052/

Grainger has them from 47 on up.

Its realllllly annoying how nice the options are for you lot in the motherland.
An example.. I had to buy oldham joints from Arc Eurotrade after spending several days searching all the US locations trying to find options for having two different sized oldham couplings that have the same diameter. Ended up spending wayyy too much money on them after shipping, and the surprise taxes via Fed Ex. The 3 dollar joints were orders of magnitude more than I would have imagined.

THe c-spanners (didnt know that was the name) were fun to make.. and a good way for me to get back int he garage and make another set of tools :)

Now I am researching thrust bearings.. and found a vendor from someones link that is here in the colonies, and very very affordable.

I know it's a bit late but the "C" spanner intended for ER collets might have been worth looking at. They seem to be forged from steel and only cost £4 each from Arc Euro. For that price it would be worth buying two and grind/mill them down to the thickness you require. If any one is interested   http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Collets/ER-Lathe-Collet-Chucks    they sell two sizes one from 32-42mm and 45-52.

Good to know Arc Euro has em.
I am going to have to start a list of things to buy from them... and then get a slew of things all at once.

Since it is shipping across the pond it gets VERY expensive. I get a plethora of fees and taxes added on sadly.

The Division Master and motor that I ordered was excellent price and value, but shippiing and taxes caused its end price to be a lot higher than anticipated. (SWMBO thankfully missed that part of things)

Oh and the other thing.. the ER collet wrenches are all good.. but we are talking a 25MM nut.

Hi Scott,
I think even the description "racing tolerances" would not cover the differences. Oh well, at least I tried to help.

Most of Arc Euro's stuff comes from China, so it should be available just as easily on your side of the Pond as it is here, whether your dealers are as "user friendly" as Arc, I could not comment on.

using this idea will be pretty useful for reclaiming some worn "c" spanners in the shed, thanks!
if i'd thought it through, i'd have never tried it

I think where Scott's idea comes to the fore is in two aspects.

The first is that it is adjustable for different sizes, and the second, and more important to me anyway, they are locked on, so no more grazed knuckles when a normal one slips off a really tight nut.

When I get a little time to myself, I will get me a pair made.

Nice one, or should I say pair.
