Future project - Steam Clock
« on: May 12, 2008, 01:14:39 AM »
Some time after I get some free time (Ha! trying to start a business.. I have no time) I want to build either a replica of THIS or design my own table top version.

A video of it:

If I remember correctly, the steam operates the whistles only. With the clock being of a normal electric type. Will have to see if I can locate the link for the info. as there are a number of them and the name of the company that makes them.
Basically you would need a number of solenoid valves for the whistle and chimes and some means of control to activate them and of course a boiler if using steam as a sound producer. Something along the line of a player steam calliope.

I have some plans for a model Calliope. I can send them to you if you want?

A Gismo ??? If it has a flywheel or spins and is made with small parts. I'll take one! If it makes noise, moves, or requires frequent oiling and dusting it's a better deal yet. It's especially right if its shiny and bright; but if it's dirty and dull it wont mater at all...

May I be so bold as to inquire the nature or source of the plans and to the finished size?
PM air calliope planes, or one of the two limited number of whistle plans that have appeared in the live steam magazine? Which are full size just not full note scale plans. Or are they small scale under 1" plans that rumor has it have been floating around for years. Would it be possible to also get a copy?
