Water tube boiler
« on: September 22, 2011, 04:29:21 PM »
Hello!

I've been working on my new steam boiler for 4 months. It's a water tube boiler. I used about 1 m 1" and 12 m 1/2" seamless pipe. I also made 2,4 meters long superheater. I made all welds by myself using slag-covered electrodes.

I've tested it on about 30 atm and it didn't leak. The working pressure is 9 atm. The capacity is about 10 litres.

Here are the photos:

:headbang: I just can't help thinking what wonders you'd be able to produce given access to a decent workshop  :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:
Great work and hopefully you will have access to a machine shop at school and there'll be no limit to what you can do!

Keep up the great work!
Henning

Just because i can't, doesn't mean i shouldn't?
Tool- lover, with a collection to show for it!

I can only add to what everyone else has already said. That is a very ambitious project that you have undertaken and brought to this stage of completion. I counted over 105 welds on the pipe alone. To have that many welds all hold steam pressure says volumes for your welding skills. When you get all the needed equipment available I would say the sky is the limit for what you can accomplish. Good luck in your studies and I will be watching for further builds and updates from you.  :D

Cheers
