Hello All
« on: January 11, 2009, 11:43:43 AM »
I have enjoyed looking around this site at all the projects you guys have. Decided to register and see if i can bring anything to the table.
I live in Alberta Canada, farm for a living and am a heavy duty mechanic. I have recently purchased a lathe and milling machine and trying to learn as much as possible about both, so you may see some basic ?? asked from me.

Keep up the good work on this site so we can all benefit and enjoy.

Mjay

Hi Mjay,

Welcome to the club of modifiers, yeah, we also make new stuff. But consider it modifying rough stock into a finished product. :)

Being from Alberta and farming I'm sure you've made some mods to farmer equipment that might be interesting to see. Such as a combine into a qigantic snow blower or one of those large round bale burning furnaces.

Ya, I used to get Farm Show magazine. Saw some pretty wild stuff in there.

Nobody has welcomed you?

Now that's just plain rude init, but highly irregular around these parts....so from me welcome aboard Mjay....do we have a real name?

Don't shy away cos we missed your entry posting, it wasn't intentional was it chaps?

BTW, thanks for posting those links on your other posting, I've been watching those MIT tech tv vids ever since. I'll bump the other thread up...

Edit: I dunno what's going on here, but when I posted this I didn't see and replies before me?

You will find it a distinct help… if you know and look as if you know what you are doing. (IRS training manual)

Hi Mjay My name is Tony and I'm a newbie. I am just starting to get used to this type of communication (much prefer to knock on your door or pick up the phone but I suppose I should get up to date).
Anyway the people (note political correctness) are very helpful and patient.
I am having a bit of trouble getting pictures posted so here is a pic or two as practice

An example of Mayan architecture if only the stuff we build could last so long, but then again maybe it's just as well it won't.      WELCOME to MADMODDER.    Regards Tony

You've got the picture posting down now.

Second picture is just about, no, it is the right size to view.

Nice pics by the way.

Still drilling holes... Sometimes, in the right place!

Still modifying bits of metal... Occasionally, making an improvement!

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
No, Bernd I have not converted the combine over to a huge snow blower, but not a bad idea!!
Right now I am interested in learning how to use the lathe and mill properly,  just by turning scrap steel. :bugeye:

I will keep cruising this site and help out if I can.
