Loved ones
« on: January 13, 2009, 07:25:39 PM »
Sorry John, all....

Been a bit qiuet tonight, my cat which I'm fond of was hit by a car tonight so I've spent the night in the vets. Wasn't looking too good for a while but then she started to respond after a while.

Got to wait till the morning now, she might loose an eye though as it came out and might be damaged.
Fingers crossed..... :(

Sorry to hear about the accident to your loved one, been there, many times.

If she does make a reasonable recovery, and I do hope she does, unlike ourselves, our pets have a natural survival instinct, and the loss of a few assets usually has no effect on their quality of life.

Our mog has no right hand hip joint because of a run in with a car, but he still does everything he used to do, just like he still had it.

Just wish her luck.

John

Thanks Guys,

Call from the Vets says she's stableised  pretty well overnight, purring this morning and trying to move about. The eye is still out, swollen too much to pop it back in. It's not looking too good for saving it, have to wait some more on that one.

Arn't they amaizing, both animals and Vets. I'd given her up for dead last night. It's a half hour drive to the Vets, what with phone calls and sorting it all out it took an hour after the accident to get there. I almost didn't go, thinking she would let go any moment as she seemed so bad.

But, something tells you that you simply have to do the best you can for these creatures, nothing worse than suffering is there. Having suffered a far bit myself about 20yrs ago ending up in a real bad way for a while.
So I took her just to end her misery as humanly and quickly as poss.

Anyways, she's looking a lot better this morning and hopefully it won't be too long before she's back home.

Glad to hear she's doing fine. Animals give you unconditional love.

Yes, you can cuss them and they forgive you in an instant.

Unlike our other "pets", much harder work they are....... :D

CC, you'll realise over time that I'm quite illiterate, but thanks for the correction.

BTW, English is not the first language around here so you also have me at another disadvantage.

Sorry for the OT

Um, one of the Brits here was explaining that to me when I was asking about Wales... What is the first language?

Eric,

The language around here is Cymraeg/Welsh. You would be lucky to find anyone in the streets or shops speaking English in my town. In fact you'd have to travel some distance.

Sure there are some English people here, there's me for a start but I don't personally know of any others. Changes in the summer of course when the tourists come to visit.

The British Isles has four main languages and two are recognised as first languages. It might be three, not sure on that one.

All Welsh people can of course speak English to varying levels, some can find it quite difficult though. Just depends what you wish to talk about.
Then again in many areas some can't speak Welsh at all, so it's a real mix and just depends where in Wales you are.

I'm right in the thick of it as you can prob guess....and I've been here since childhood.

Sadly she's not doing too well Eric, had an op earlier today to remove her damaged eye. She had lost sight in it and it was too swollen to fit back into the socket. They couldn't wait any longer for the swelling to reduce and it was causing other complications not to mention the discomfort.
Alas she stopped breathing during the op, they got her started again but she didn't recover too well.
There is a chance she has suffered brain damage, either from the knock or the op. We just have to wait now and give her a little more time.

We'll know more tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Darren,

A nice bit of good news.

I think you will find she will recover a lot quicker now she is in familiar and loving surroundings.

Treat her to a tin of the best salmon.

Thanks John,
I will when she's a bit better. She can't eat solids as yet, not strong enough to chew. We have some special food from the vets for a couple of days.
Finally this evening she's woken up and is now munching away.....a good sign.

Good news.  Mostly, they don't eat when they're in bad shape, so that's a great step.

Those MLHU (Mobile Lap Heating Units) are tough little critters.  My kitties and I send our best wishes.

Thanks for asking John,

I'm pleased to say she's getting better day by day, still fragile but certainly going the right way now. Finally can go to the toilet by herself  :coffee:

Took her to the vets this morning to have her stitches out from the eye op. Vet said she was amaized she has pulled through and doing well considering.

BTW, how's Bandits war wounds, prob hardly see them now I bet....?
