Servo Motor Size
« on: December 14, 2011, 10:23:05 AM »
I've been wading through some servos for sale and I don't have enough experience with them to have a good feel for motor strength just going by specs.

Here are specs from a set I'm looking at:
DC38V 2A
30 W AT 1000 MIN -1
MAX STALL TORQUE 0.568 N.m

Can someone give me an idea what these motors would successfully drive?

The application I have in mind is an overhaul of my current stepper system driving the axes on my Craftex mill/drill/lathe.  I already have about 1:3 (or 3:1 ?) gear reduction and would probably keep that the same, just replace the motors.

Thanks!
