A idea for metal source..
« on: December 24, 2011, 04:35:03 PM »
While looking around in my garage, i seem to have collected myself a .. large quantity of disc break rotors.. They are pretty worn down, but there is still alot of metals in these..  I would think there are around 100+kg of scrap metall in that bin.

Now thinking.. Could these be melted and casted into usable shapes for the lathe or the mill.
Or is this steel/cast iron - what it can be, too tough to melt by myself in my backyard?
Machinery: Optimum D320x920, Optimum BF20L, Aciera F3. -- I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. http://www.roughedge.se/blogg/

They'd be cast iron.  Tough to melt down without a cupola, but could be cut up and used.

Cheers
