Need some 6-40 screws
« on: January 20, 2012, 09:20:59 AM »
Have a pistol project going and need some 6-40 screws in either flat or button head.  I have found them in gunsmith kits with lots of other screws but not separate.  Tried McMaster Carr but no luck.   Anyone have a source for odd ball screws?

Brownell's has them. They are 1" long but it is easier to shorten than lengthen.

I'm assuming you only want to pay for 3-4 screws instead of buying a full package?

@WillieL - not looking for 3-4.  10-15 would have been perfect.  But I ordered the 100 from Amazon.  Can always use them for other projects.  Just have to keep a 6-40 tap on hand.  The vendor looks good.  I bookmarked their website.   www.smallparts.com

@75Plus - I had seen those but didn't want to order a 250 piece kit.   I tried most of the gunsmith sites first

Thanks for the help!!

You can buy "Refill" packets in any of the sizes that are in the whole assortment.

Aha!  Saw the kit but missed the refill items.  That will be perfect.

Already got my screws on the way, but found this web site and thought I would pass it on.   Looks like they have some odd sizes and you can order in small qty.

The only killer is the shipping.   :bugeye:

Yeah, about $10 so you would not want to order just one screw.   :loco:
