Eyup
« on: March 14, 2012, 09:47:11 AM »
That's 'hello' for the poor unfortunates not from Yorkshire.

I have a rusty tin shack that leaks a lot, and a desire to finally get round to modelling. I'm afflicted with keeping things that are well past their prime, so have plenty of experience of 3 days welding to get cars through the mot etc.

The machinery collection has grown over time and my tin shack is now at full capacity. I have a mini lathe, 2x 1940 colchester master lathe (Though stupidly I've lent the best one out & kept the worn out one for myself), a microkinetics CNC lathe (ok machine, awful company), and I've recently got a small CNC milling machine. CNC is good when you're a left handed uncoordinated fool.

I'm always fascinated by sterling engines at shows, so I guess that's where I'll be making scrap first.

Well hello Criz  welcome to our little club :borg:

The sterling engines have always fascinated me too, but I don't have the skills/confidence/patience at the moment (not to mention no workshop at the moment) but I look forward to following your progress as you post up about it ( you are going to post up about it aren't you  :poke: :poke: :) )

Hiya Criz

Welcome to the collective :borg:

I would like to see some pictures of your machines. Sounds like you have a good collection going. What is the small CNC mill?

Welcome from another new guy! I too have always wanted to put a sterling together.

Thanks for the welcome!

Er, pics, er, ok.

Hopefully there should be attached a pic of the mill slowly paying for itself. Nothing too exciting, it's drilling holes in dice. I'm the weakest link in the operation as it takes me too long to load / unload the dice so it's only earning about £25 an hour.

I've got in the region of sod all tooling for it, so it probably won't do much else than drilling until after the Harrogate show.

I knew what it ment. I spent 8 years in the UK with the USAF, and my Brit wife had an uncle that was a Yorkshireman. I also watch the Brit Comedys on PBS on Saturday nite. Compo taught me well...
