Strewth, Ade, that's a bit inconvenient    :(
As an ex-company car driver, I do have some familiarity with Armco Rash ... I feel for you.
Bruised ribs are damn painful, especially when laughing
Might I suggest a discreet snigger and two Ibuprofen instead ...
Get well soon ..

Ooh, I forgot, I've still got some codeine left over from my pneumonia, that might help, better not operate any machinery though...
Cheers!

Sorry to see the car in that state Ade, what a pisser :palm: , I can cast my mind back to seeing a couple of MK2 RS2000's I had in that state :( , I rebuilt a couple of times until I got sickened ................. I only wish it was like the film 'Christine' ....... the one where the old Chevy ? kept rebuilding itself  :med:, it looks like a bit more of  :dremel: this for you though Ade.
The new car will be better as you will have all the little things that could be better done, I suppose you have to look on the bright side at times like this , you're more or less ok ................and you didnt smash the sump

Good luck with the rebuild Ade ,
  Cheers Mick

Ouch!!!  Good to hear you were only bumped and bruised.  I'm sure the old gal will be back better than ever!

BTW: Christine was a '58 Plymouth Fury.  Always wanted one of those.....

Cheers

Jeff

Thanks lads, all sympathies should be directed towards the car; the accident was unfortunately pilot error in this case.

Jeff, IIRC the "original" Christine (as written by King) couldn't exist (he described it as a '58 4-door); they are beautiful cars though, there was an exceptionally nice one on eBay a little while back.

I've got a hankering for a '65 Lincoln Continental just now....  preferably a soft top (the hard top version was used in The Matrix), depending on how expensive sorting the racing car out is, and a few other projects, I'd quite like to import one (export from your point of view) next year...

Cheers!

The $64,000 question, Ade: Did the sump survive?

Andy
Sale, Cheshire
I've cut the end off it twice, but it's still too short

Actually, more survived than would immediately be thought, looking at the pictures... Engine/box/prop (yes, including the sump, phew!) all look OK. Even the radiator appears to be OK! So much so, in fact, that it might be repairable after all...
Cheers!

And..... What about the gear knob!!!!   :bugeye:

Bloody hell, bet your dad's telling his mates "see what happens when you let the kids borrow the car"!

Any crash is a good crash if you walk away

Good luck with the re-build!  :proj:

Ade, I've a few capris and will have a spare 2.0S shell in good condition next week that you can have. Dark grey metallic so still a good dark 'don't mess with me' colour.

AdeV,

Hope you don't mind me mentioning this,  but that modified track-rod end looks to me as if it could pass over the retaining nut if the swivel dropped out.  Or is it an optical illusion.

Dave.

P.s. I've had a worn-out bottom ball joint disconnect itself whilst driving. I hope it never happens again.

Hi Dave,

I _think_ it's an optical illusion, next time I get a chance (& if I remember) I'll take a look & see.

There is now some footage of my crash on Youtube....:

From about 27s in.
Cheers!

And that there was the end of the race for poor Ade

Looked like a good hard thump!

Did you nudge the car in front then spin into the one to your rear right? or did someone nudge you into the issue?   Little hard to work out cause you were just out of shot at take off.

Roll on the MkII (or was there another one before this beastie?)
