Never mind 36 years in Engineering
« on: February 09, 2009, 02:09:24 PM »
Hi again

Never mind 36 years in Engineering, I'm new to forums. What is the usual method that people use to post pics on this forum. It took me long enough to charge-up the batteries of my Digital Camera, find and re-read the instruction booklet and eventually take some half decent pics without trying to attract too much attention from you know who.

I have read thru the help section but have to admit to needing a dummie's guide. Give us a clue and I'll get right on it.

Thanks, Paul

Hi Darren,

Thanks for your help. I've tried the link but it brings me back to this page - even with my cookies turned "way on down". I've had a look at "photobucket", but it'll have to wait until toworrow now since, "You've been out in that workshop all evening and then your straight on that rotten computer" is about to happen.

Cheers now, Paul

Hi Ralph,

Success on a plate. I have created my album on p/b but again, Wonder Woman's sweet voice is calling (Sounds like she's on top of the Chrysler Building with Spider-Man, poor sod, I don't fancy the gargoyles chances much either)

Thanks alot mate - I'll get a post knocked-up ASAP

Regards, Paul

Sorry to be a Kill-joy Guys,

But when setting-up my p/b account, I did not realise that all the privacy defaults were set to public viewing/sharing. I have had spam e-mails (intercepted by Norton A/V) my p/b account has messages from a secret admirer in Sheffield who apperently has a crush on me and I find it ironic that a site which has banned pic's of babies in nappies (according to web-reviews) has pop-ups trying to fix me up with no less than 3 whores in Worksop! Also I am not keen on having to turn my internet privacy cookies way down just in order to log-on. Thus, I have regretfully cancelled my account with p/b. I know it's free and relies on sponsorship, but I do not care for the pop-ups or their nature.

However, an IT colleague is in the process of building my own web-site and I hope to be able to post pics from this instead very soon.

Once again thanks for your help and encouragement. It was bit difficult typing this message since I do not wish to appear ungrateful.

Best regards, Paul

Paul,

That's what I do. I have a web site and keep all my pictures there that I post here. I'm now trying videos.

When you get around to posting pics using your web site and need help let me know.

I have a web site, and know how to use it

But PB is by far easier and quicker for picture hosting. It even automates the links for you.

Paul, can't say I've had any problems with PB, not email wise anyway. As for the "crushers", that' just outside advertising, they don't really exist...just the same sort of thing that's thrown at us from the TV these days, oh and the radio and the newspapers etc, etc

You will find it a distinct help… if you know and look as if you know what you are doing. (IRS training manual)

How odd!  I've had my PB account for over a year and it has loads of pic's on it.... I've never had an e-mail off them or anything to do with the site bar activation type stuff.... Certainly no invites to Worksop!!??

I can't remember lowering any security settings either.... Think mine are on medium? .... I'll have to check, I get very little spam type mail anyway!

Sad that it has caused you issues  :(

Well hopefully it will not be too long before you have it sorted and posting pic's via your website will be easy?
