It was great meeting and having a chat with the guys, sorry it couldn't have been for longer but my Dad was having a bad day and I couldn't leave him for too long. Any way took lots of pics but the ones of the locos didn't come out very well but these more than make up for it.

Rotary Engine and the bit of bent pipe in the background is actualy a boiler for a novelty engine.

Another Rotary Engine

A Shay Loco

Aircraft

Marine Engines

A Bently Engine

Boats

A Steam Yatch for John

Paddle wheelers

Mecano

Subs

Aircraft carrier

Telascope

And my personal favourate a Wheel right shop

A very enjoyable day out.

Stew

Well.... Thanks for the photo shoot Peter.... You could have let me suck my gut in!!!    CC saw you coming and got a pose all ready!  :)

Didn't get any length of time with anyone other than Dave (CC) we wandered the halls chatting for a few hours

Had a bit of a chat with Ian(Circlip... Guest of the forum  ) Who can confirm the motors I'm using for driving the mill' are of good quality.... Good to know  :borg:
Had a chat with Peter (HS93) about his machines and what he's making with them....Weather station with a friend for..... I've forgotten the word??   Kinda like monitoring? rain fall etc.  Peter can explain if need be I'm sure? Had a little chat with Stew(sbwhart) and a chat with Paul (Serveta150) about Photobucket and me torches

Sorry to David D(StillDrillin),  We didn't really get a conversation started.... I was talking to Peter while you were talking with CC and Stew.....Then everyone disbanded and faded into the tool stalls!!  Well there's always the interweb and next year!

The show was indeed fun, I love seeing what has been made. Many of the old favourites were there.... Some new bits too

Missing the jet engine this time though  :(

But some new stirlings and a little more internal workings to photo.... I'll sort some out later and post them  :coffee:

Why later.... Well I spent loads and loads of my hard earned and I am going to eat and then go out and play with all my new toys  :ddb:       :D

Happy tooled up Ralph!   :dremel:

Hi guys,

Sorry I didn't see any of you, I had to man the club stand from 12 till 2pm. I only had an hour before that to see the models then 1/2 an hour after to look around the tool stalls by which point the wife and kids were itching to go!   :(

I'm glad you all had a great time. I might actually go back tomorrow just with my 3 year old son, he loved it and I just feel like an couple of hours didn't do it justice at all. I can't bear the thought of it being over for another year!

:proj: did strike, I'm now thinking my next project might be a 5" gauge electric engine or a lawn mower powered 7 1/4" gauge ... will create another thread, just want to throw some ideas around first.

Well, sounds like all you guys had a grand old time.

Ralph, that's not a bad pose. Probably to much , but hey I like  too.

I'm a bit jealous since I live so far away and couldn't be there for all the fun. Oh well, like Ralph said, there's always the interweb.

Glad a good time was had by all. Now to replenish the wallet for next year, eh? :ddb:

Wouldn't be so bad if I drank the alcihol (  ) ehh Bernd?!

I'll put it down to a bad andle and a surprise shoot!! Nothing to do with pastries, chocolate and something I've heard of called "middle aged spread"  (couldn't find it in Tesco!!)

I always enjoy talking to people, first times can be awkward.... But once you've met someone you've met 'em!  The next time your old acquaintances   (there should be one of these smilies with milk in the glasses for un non-drinking sorts  )

You better had, or else !! :wack:

I am waiting for three or four pages full, the ones everyone else has done, even though very good, to me were only tasters.

I want to be there, without being there, if you know what I mean.

Erm.... Well I don't think I have that much.... Some were Very blurred (no flash), also spent much time talking!!

How are these?

Another view of an old favourite.

A 25CC opposed piston 4 stroke engine, based on a motorcycle engine.

A 40cc 90deg V twin cross type rotary valve engine.

I didn'y shoot the card for this one!! But it's a very nice looking engine IMHO.

A 1/4 DH Gypsy 1 engine.

An Elliot bat tripple expansion launch engine.

The newest addition to the Stirling stand.... The builder of these engines told me that they are all his own design and run on incandessant bulbs within the wood or black housings.... Quite ingenious if you ask me!

A rolling road for testing your loco?!

One of my favourites.... Works in a very cool way....  An Atkinson gas engine

This link kinda shows how it works....  http://www.dself.dsl.pipex.com/MUSEUM/POWER/unusualICeng/atkinson/atkinson.htm   Long power stroke made even longer on this engine due to it's opposed pistons.... Very crazy and cool!

Something by some bird called Cherry Hill... Anyone ever heard of her? ...Apparently one of her first engines... Dated 1957!!!

A vandergraph generator... Actually powered by a stirling generator on the other end of the bench!!

Some boats for those of you who like em!!

A nice little cast racer...

Some people have a lot of time patience and skill!!!

Some people make the strangest things!!

For those of you who don't know what that is...A V1, Doodlebug!!!! Just hope it is not completely accurate model!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-1_flying_bomb

Still my favourite engine of all the shows..... I just really like it..... Gonna try a similar one one day  :)

And finally for the stills...... Mine will look a bit better I hope and I will not be using parts out of a bog (no not a Boggie... A bog/toilet!)

Video's to come!

How was that lot ?

Ralph,

Very nice indeed, now just getting the feel of things.

I don't know if you are trying to wind me up, or that you are just ignorant of the fact that she is one of the best model engineers that this country has produced in recent memory. In fact, she has been honoured for her work in model engineering.

Sorry John... Twas meant as a joke  ::)  You can't win em all!?

I have heard a bit about her, her works etc are quite thin on the interweb!?
The bit about first engine was what I heard the guy showing the models saying to another... Said she was about 20 when this one was made!!  :bugeye:

Well.... Video's nearly ready..... I'll post it later if I'm not asleep by the time it processes!!

Peter.... Just use photobucket... It's far easier!!... Post in the "gallery" section to tell people how it's done

Thanks for those great pics Peter!

I was chatting on the Brighouse & Halifax M E stand........ "I was a member in the 1950`s".

Turns out my schoolpal, who introduced me to the society, is still a member!  :bugeye:

In the early 1960`s, he fitted two 650cc engines into a stretched Triumph frame.

I also believe he married the girl I was sweet on......  :(

Hoping for a happy phone call in the next few days......

What a crackin` video Ralph!

Good enough for SWMBO to pause dusting activities for a few minutes......  :bugeye:

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing those engines, most of them were stopped, when I saw them.....
