Another Bogstandard recomendation
« on: February 24, 2009, 06:53:24 PM »
Well Hi folks
Some of you will recognise me from Another well known site that shall remain nameless
Today i purchased sight unseen a PERFECTO 3 1/2 x 16 lathe, it's being delivered thursday. I looked it up on Lathes.co.uk and it looks great. A substantial step up from the sieg CO that i have been struggling to turn soft pasta on so far. I have plans and laser cut part set for the STEAMECH marine engine ( thats another thread to come regarding ignorant customer service or lack of any customer service at all ) also i will be pressing on with the build of that engine which i will document here.

Well thats about it for now

Kind regards

Malcolm

Welcome to the secret den btw, did Bogs tell you about the initiation ceremony for new members?
You will find it a distinct help… if you know and look as if you know what you are doing. (IRS training manual)

Hi Darren

"Welcome to the secret den btw, did Bogs tell you about the initiation ceremony for new members?"

I am a past master in the freemasons so secret initiation ceremonies aren't a big worry to me.

 :)  :)  :)  :)  :)

Thanks for the message

Kind regards

Malcolm

Hi Scott

Thanks for the welcome, I am looking forwards to actually being able to cut metal again. ( the CO does actually do quite well for the price)

I used to be a qualified electrician, plumber, and registered gas installer, until i had a nervous breakdown (still recovering). Unfortunately i also have severe arthritus in my knee's and hips which prevent me from returning to the building trades, so i thought long and hard about what to do next and, as i can fix things (a logical mind) i decided that a clock / watch maker was the obvious choice, i can still use my BRAIN ? and hands to fix things but i can do it sitting down.

Hi Malcolm, a very big welcome.

What's a brain?

The collective  :borg:  here yanked out what I had left and replaced it with an old Timex mechanism.

Now I know who to come to for repairs.

Just enjoy yourself and feel free to let us in on a few of your projects.

Hi Malcolm,

You must mean HMEM by "That Other Place", right?

And I got beat again by Eric. Welcome to the collecitve. :borg:

I see you've already have  :proj: with all you are doing and want to do.

Now as to that "initiation ceremony for new members". You are required to read every word of the "Brass Monkies" thread in the "Water Cooler" and are required to make at least one comment, it has to be off topic for that thread, but pretain to any subject being discussed on the forum and it must be done while you are a Newbie.

Regards,
Bernd
