Newbie checkin' in from central Massachusetts
« on: February 03, 2013, 10:45:56 AM »
Just checking in to say hello folks.
As I was thinking what to say the smiley folks say it for me...
 :proj:

I've got it in a very bad way.
I still play with motorcycles (I think i have 14)
I make steam engine models from bar stock to teach myself machining techniques.
I also collect machine tools (Mostly old stuff that still works)
     1898 Hendey universal Mill
     1952 Southbend  13
1943 War board  Southbend 9A  fully loaded. my shop workhorse.
1960 Round ram short table M-head
     1967 Big table J-Head
     19?? Induma Mill (outside )
     1922 Dalton Six lathe

I also have a problem being a tool-a-holiic. You know shop tools, upstairs garage tools, outside shed tools, service truck tools, ummm....roadbox tools.
Oh yeah, spare tools, sacrificial cheap tools used for making ...... well more tools.    I'm sure we all get the picture.  (I'm hoping to get some support here, as some of you just might share the same symtoms of the same types of disease.)

I like to restore antique machanical things. (like my '46 Farmall "A"), and a '47 International stationary "B" engine.

And modify others, like my 1949 Hough Loader 4x4 repowered with it's Chevy 400 CID small block and turbo 400 tranny. (Goes faster than it really needs to,BTW).

Unfortunately, this leaves me with a very nice house that looks like it was built at a junk yard.

I'm looking for some support in dealing with these topics in my life. Will this support group help me? Please?.
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike

Welcome to MadModder. It certainly looks like you came to the right place. While not everyone has as many tools or projects as you have there are many that have some old and/or oddball equipment. I hope that in future posts you will be able to show us some photo's of some of it.

If you have any questions just ask as there is always someone around to answer or at least give an opinion. We look forward to your future participation in the various forums.  :D :D

Cheers

Welcome Mike!

Sounds like you have a fascinating collection. Hope to see some of them!

ps. if you get to the Bernardston Small Engine Meet in the spring, maybe we'll meet up some day.
I love it when a Plan B comes together!

Hi Mike,

If you run out of old things to fix, you could come on over and have a go at the 1949 TEA20 Grey Fergie. It does need some serious looking at.
