No need to apologise David, the whole set up is very confusing.

And who can blame your lecky bloke, work is tight at the moment.
You will find it a distinct help… if you know and look as if you know what you are doing. (IRS training manual)

Just to avoid confusion my earth stake just augments the existing earth running in the armoured cable.

David

Dont forget to give your earth stake a drink every month.  :zap:

BTW Darren I just sold a Collins radio transmitter to someone in the US,  it took me all one weekend to make the two crates and get them to the shipping company.  It has a 3000Volt HT power supply and stands in a full height cabinet with a glass window in the front so you can see the colour of the PA Anode!  Circa 1952.

I'd have liked that, did it use these btw?

No Darren, not an 833, the final was a pentode but I forget its designation! It had two 75THs in the modulator, now there were a cool looking tube!

BTW, I "stole" a big triode from a derelict transmitter station in Afghanistan, it had been a spare for a 5Kw Wilcox airport beacon.  I threw out all my dirty clothes and that thing filled my knapsack,  caused a lot of interest at airport XRay checks!  Whoops!  :offtopic:
