Waste oil bypass spray nossle. 1st Attempt...
« on: March 09, 2013, 12:27:19 PM »
uhm i dont wanna rewrite and repost so i just post the link to my blog, please waste the click and comment here.
http://www.roughedge.se/blogg/2013/03/09/first-attempt-spray-nozzle/

Issues:
 1) Spray pattern is onesided not uniformed.
 2) It blows out o-rings like a motherf***er

Questions:
 1) should the needle feed part be smaller its 6mm od, with a 3mm hole that runs upto a 1mm exit. if it smaller the bypass channels could be.. well better.
 2) I think i made this in the wrong order, doing the bypass channels as one of the last steps. It created some issues with internal sealing.

Please comment.. =)

NeoTech,

Without seeing the cross section it's difficult to be certain but I'd say your O-ring grooves are nowhere near deep enough. Typically the difference between the shaft and hole diameters for static applications should be 0.12mm for a 1.6mm section O-ring & 0.15 for a 3mm section.

Had you considered a bab style feed? which is basically a compressed air feed blown through a fine hole or pair of holes drilled into a sphere. the waste oil can then be drip fed from the top meaning you wont get blockages :D

The beauty of Not Planning, is that failure comes as a Complete Suprise and is Not preceded by a period of worry and depression.
