Sand Moulding Bench
« on: March 28, 2013, 07:12:13 AM »
Hi Guys,
Couple of months ago my neighbour was clearing his attic, and asked if I would like any timber. I never refuse timber so the answer was a big yes please, so he said " take what you want, it will be outside the house this afternoon".  After lunch I peered into his garden, and to my surprise 2 single and a double pine beds; well it took me all afternoon to dissemble and transport these beds to their new home in my shed.
For some time now I have wanted a sand moulding bench for the foundry, so it was an easy decision to mod 2 single pine beds.
The design had to house up to 100kgs of damp sand, covered when not in use. Storage for 3 flasks, a slotted removable worktop  for catching strickled sand, and bulk filling. Height to enable comfortable ramming, and support for ramming forces. The sand container is a heavy duty storage box from B&Q.
I am well pleased with the outcome.    Cheers David

That's very clever and nicely done!
I'm sure it will serve well ...
