Hello from southeastern WA
« on: April 15, 2013, 07:32:28 PM »
Hi guys,

My names Bob and I live in southeastern WA.  Been wanting a lathe since shop class in high school, 40 years ago.  Finally decided it was time to get one.  I currently have limited space so a 7x14 is what I was looking at, but I found a lightly used Harbor Freight 8x12 which I realized was a lot more lathe than the 7x lathes.   Bought it for $500 with about $200 in tooling.  Spindle bore is large enough for me to thread and chamber some barrels, which I'm planning on doing this winter. Then hopefully a mill.  Looking forward to all the info on the forum.

Bob

Hey Bob,

Union Creek -- Colfax or Yakima area (I assume Colfax as "SE Washington")?

I am just outside of Everett (in what used to be Everett East and is now Lake Stevens).  I think there's a "local" (meaning less than a 2 hour drive) to you person who hang's out here from time-to-time.

Don't be a stranger, you can just be strange!

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the collective :borg:

I have thought about going to the 8x14. Decided to mod my 7x10 a little first. How do you like the 8x? Pictures?
