Indexable inserts ?
« on: March 07, 2009, 02:56:15 PM »
Hi guys

Does anybody have a chart a link or know off the top of their head what all the letters for indexable inserts mean
for example DCMT,WNMG,TNMG,CCMT etc etc.
I have tried google but maybe I am wording my search wrong as I can not find anything

J,

Try a googleing for a tooling catalog. Don't what would be good in the UK. Here in the states you can try Enco, MSC, Grainger and the likes. then search there catalogs for those letters. Hope that helps.

Good plan
I was looking at purchasing these 8mm glanze indexable turning tools  http://snipurl.com/dcjwv
They take a CCMT seco insert according to the sellers website.
So I google seco and make my way to the turning insert section and click CCMT
Am I right in thinking that the four letters "CCMT" just describe the shape and size ?

I would believe so from looking at the chart. They've always confused me. But glad you found answers to your question.

OMG thank you..

I have looked through so many of the catalogs and things I have. And have not been buying them yet... but wondered how you know what you are getting, and whats needed for a particular tool!

Soooo nice to have that chart.
