Using "Slig" sand for casting..
« on: August 09, 2013, 04:39:31 AM »
Wondering if this is possible.. What is slig..

Slig is the powdered remains from iron making in my area.. Its the crushed up rocks that has been sorted and heated for making the iron seperate from the sand.

Whats left is a black sand with high content of black iron oxides, that is binding naturally and has a mesh up and around 140-160 in size.. Im thinking if i could bind it with bentonite for making sand casting sand.. instead of using silica sand that i have a hard time to aquire..
