Mimi Lathe Half Nuts Gib Mod
« on: June 11, 2013, 11:40:18 AM »
I saw somewhere where someone had replaced the screw/washer system for securing the Mini-Lathe half nut gib with a bar. I just had that gib fall out while threading and those screws and washers are gone. Probably vacuumed up with the swarf during a cleaning session. Anyone remember where this mod is located?

Chuck, I believe that was one of the items Bogs covered in "Fixing Darren's Lathe" a couple of years back. I searched for that thread and came up with empty. I know that Bogs had removed all his pictures but it appears that the entire thread has been deleted. Is Bogs still active anywhere? If so maybe you can contact him.

Hi Chuck,

This might help: http://www.modellost.co.uk/downloads/sieg_c3_halfnut_downloads.htm

But you could just find a replacement screw and washer...

I've cut the end off it twice, but it's still too short

Thanks for the replies. I made my own with 2 pieces of 1/16" stainless sheet, soldered together. Added 2  4mm shcs, worked great.

Joe

I went looking for this thread and I found it. http://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,627.msg3029.html#msg3029
I know that the photo's had been messed up but I couldn't believe that the thread had been deleted. It took me a while but I found it.

Now I have to figure out why it was so hard to find.
