Hi,

Nice find Dave but must point out that's only using spring or music wire ready hardened and tempered.

Same principle using proper steels then hardening after for more demanding applications.

To create a compression spring with known pitch just set power feed or screwcut pitch to suit, hopefully the pitch may stay the same.

Hi Dave,
            Thanks for showing the video, I have made springs on a lathe before, but only using hand power. The use of the vee tool, and using screw cutting feeds is very interesting and will try this method when I next need a spring.
