Hi all, I'm a 60ish retired guy from Texas. I have been building custom bicycle cruiser frames,for the last several years and they have taken over all my space. I decided to get into machines in hopes of a good hobby that won't take up as much room.
I bought a used 8x12 HF lathe a couple weeks ago. Always wanted one. Got it for $500 with some tooling. Then had to have a mill to complement the lathe. I bought a Grizzly g0704. As with others my stand came bent and they are sending another. Decided to whip up a simple stand. Like mine better. As soon as the feeling comes back in two of my fingers on my left hand from lifting, I will be in good shape. Have them both setup and have made a few test runs. Going to have to wait a little on money to build up , for more tooling for the mill. Stuff gets expensive. Hope to have fun with them. My set up so far.

The last one is a copy of a 1938 Colson bicycle. I built my own and stretched
it 7'' where it would be comfortable to ride. It has the pedal forward and its easy on your legs . Am I going to get it trouble posting bikes on a machine site? If so whoever is your moderator can delete all of them.

Nah you most likely will not.. there is even a section for "motorised" stuff.. human or engine.. =)

I dont even do models im here cuz people are funny as hell and know a shitton about tooling, machining and actually answers dumb ass questions. =)

Well that settles it.. Project "Tube roller" just got prioritized on my "nifty tools that need to be made".. that first one with the springer fork.. awsome. =)

Hmmm. I am going to have to say nope. No trouble (I own the board). We do a little more than just machining here. We welcome everything that you make/mod etc... So machining, welding, casting, composites & electronics to name a few.

We have a spot called the Gallery. Feel free to start a post there on what you have done. Would love to see some build logs on how you build your frames. You can post those in the Project Logs or whatever sub section fits the best ie PowerSports. I for one would love to see a build log.

I have a ton of questions about welding or brazing the frames. I want to build a small cart for my son and need to learn.

Thanks I appreciate it. I joined here due to the open atmosphere. I will do one I have built. My Nephew owns
a bicycle site and I have been a member for 6 or so years. Have lots of pictures of bike building. I use two benders.
One is a HF roller bender and the other is a JD2 bender. I have kinda filled up my space with custom bikes and that
is why I'm trying to learn how to run machines. I love to build stuff, but really don't ride bikes much.I have been retired for 7 years and if nothing silly happens I will not have to work for anybody ever again....ever!
Oh yeah I weld everything with a Hobart 140 mig with gas and solid wire.

Metalcaster I have already done the useless stuff with motors. Everybody needs one

Oh and everybody needs one of these parked in their garage. Lots of unused stuff

Amazingly it's quite comfy except when you slide forward off the seat as I did when I first rode it!

Sorry all my pictures are posted on another website. It doesn't have the wide border, like here. If I reduce my photobucket size to make them work here it
will reduce all of them there. I will downsize my pics for here from now on. Sorry.

Thanks David. Still have a bunch to learn. I was playing with some 1 1/2'' stainless on my lathe and took too big a bite and it jerked it out of the chuck and made a mess. I wish it would have just told me . ha ha I will figure it out ...I hope.
I see Sherline sells a complete cnc mill for $2500. I might have gone that route if I had been aware they sold it before I bought my Grizzly g0704. Another grand and they give you the program and the computer too.Oh well live and learn.
