Steam Toy Lincs. My table........
« on: September 10, 2013, 04:12:02 PM »
My "other" forum, held it's annual steam show, at Owston Ferry, last Saturday.

I rarely run small/ toy steamers, these days. Preferring more challenging engines, to wrestle with.

Here's my table, with seven hotties running at once, (almost).......

WOW, David   :bugeye:   Those are all incredible machines.  I can't imagine the skill and where - with - all to achieve that.  And you have found "more challenging engines"  to wrestle with?  That is quite a measure of growth and serious strides you have made.  I do understand that IC engines may be more challenging, but these models are no cake walk.  Thanks for sharing.   Ralph

Ship, Ralph.

Thanks for your kind comments.

I think I should explain...... I am a long time member of the Steamtoy Forum.....  http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/index.php

But, I no longer collect steam toys. Preferring to resuscitate the, mainly , hot air engines, which congregate in my orphanage cupboard.

I hope Sandy doesn't mind me showing his pics, from the day....... http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/about65934.html

Just to clear up a little confusion -- the engines in the video are not the steam engines David doesn't like playing with, they are the hot air engines he does like playing with.  :)

And I'm really curious about that long horizontal in the foreground. Any more info on that one David?

Hi Steve.

It's a Huxtable. Made in Australia.

Came to me, brand new. As a swap for a 3 cylinder Mamod, I'd made from parts........

Darn! Couldn't you break it or something so we could see one of your great project write-ups, and all the parts and pieces laid out and improved?

ps. I'm very partial to mill style horizontal hot air engines. I built one for my father a few years ago, and would like to do another. Yours is a beauty.

Sorry Steve.

They're not easily broken! The only other one I know of, is in Australia.

It has been played with, for more than 10 years........ http://modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/about65134.html&highlight=huxtable

1" bore. 1" stroke power piston. 2" stroke displacer.

Anything you need to know, just ask.

Looks very nice David. I have to say, I prefer to watch you breathe new life into engines as well.

The movie in your link is really nice! That's a great engine, and it reminds me of plans I have in an old book somewhere that once caught my fancy. It had a cast base like yours (though probably iron. It did have a separate power piston, and if i remember correctly the displacer cylinder was finned by threading. If i remember right the text said it was big enough to power a small lathe! I kinda take that with a grain of salt -- but ya never know unless you try things.

Im sure there must have been a lot of interest in that nice little lot running David, an impressive line up. No new orphans arrived at your door lately then.

Thanks for your kind comments, Fellas!

No recent orphans John. Not since the abandoned one, at the J26 Show, back in May.
Still got several waiting patiently, in the cupboard.   :med:

The messy, little Rider Ericsson, didn't make it back here. It has been re homed, in Lincolnshire.

Here's a link to a Steamtoys posting, with pics, and video.
