Hello from Scotland
« on: September 14, 2013, 07:34:56 AM »
Hi, just joined the forum after finding it by chance. I have an interest in all sorts of work shop equipment and activities, but mainly car and bike related stuff. I have a Boxford 11-30 lathe and I have a question about making a 5mt - 3mt reducing bush fit into the headstock spindle for mounting centres etc, but I will start another thread for that one.

Scott,

Welcome aboard, you'll find lots of help here.

5 -> 3 mt bushes are widely available and not too expensive, I'd question if it's worth making one:

These can be used direct - or cut down with an angle grinder:

or these people will sell you the correct  short bush:

Good luck,

Hi Andrew, thanks for the reply, I have a 5mt -3mt bush already. The headstock spindle has this taper No.4.5 ASA.B5.10  and Boxford want nigh on £100 for a bush! I will try those links you posted and see where I get.

A year late I know but did anyone figure out where to get the bush? I've got a Boxford STS with the same missing headstock reduction sleeve. Strangely enough I'm in Dundee! Cheers!
