Hi from Kent
« on: November 07, 2013, 08:04:13 AM »
Hi All

I'm Ray from south east kent and have been lurking some time now since also joining HMEM amongst others. I've had a small workshop which was home based for a few years, but last year a buddy of mine offered me a slice of this newly built unit to share with him. We now share a unit long with the rent, knowledge and experience of each other and so far it seems to be working out ok. My interest is in small modelling stuff and he likes the larger stuff, mainly CNC but also some manual machining. It's still needs a little more organising but it gives you an idea

Some pics as I know we all love pics

Cheers

Hi Boxfordian, welcome aboard.

You can't be that far from me- I'm just over the border in East Sussex.

I have been thinking about this for a while.
This is no reflection on Boxfordian or anyone else.
I do not think it is a good idea to post information
and pictures of your shop and equipment.
Were I a thief I would review sites like ours
and locate the shop and items.
Then I would steal everything.
I would suggest that you do not
divulge the location of your house, shop
and tools.
Also have a good security system,
which I do not have as yet.

I think one shouldn't get carried away with this burglar issue. I'm not aware of any postings where actual addresses have been given.

After all Romney Marsh is a large area !

Also have a good security system,
which I do not have as yet.

Perhaps you need to take your own advice?

mklotz,
Is not that what I said?
"I have been thinking about this
and my system is not good enough."
I would like to add real time video, for this
and other reasons.
I do not post panning pictures of my shop
and I do not post pictures of the exterior
the shop.  It is very easy to collect information
from the least expected.
Just a suggestion, sorry I brought it up.

Unc1esteve, you made a very good point, and spurred me to remove the pic of the outside before you mentioned it in a following thread. I know your intentions were meant with good heart, thanks

Jeff, I'm aware of you chaps, in fact, we've crossed paths at Ally Pally, Sandown, Guildford and Sellindge and each time you've made a kind invitation to pop along to one of your evenings. Guess its about time I accepted  all being well, I'll see you there

Sorry to of caused a little contention on my opening thread fella's, sure as hell wasnt meant

Hi

Welcome to the collective :borg:

Nice shop! I can imagine a lot of things coming out of that.

No worries about any contention. It is a valid point. I know of a guy on the Renlist (Porsche) forum who had his highly customized 951 stolen. The thief tracked him on the forum. Granted, it is easier to steal a car over a heavy CNC machine. Just remember to remove or just don't use geo tags when you take pictures.
