Hi Andrew, pleased to see the grinding worked out ok.

Our thinking patterns must have been on the same plane today,as I was looking at my lathe and coming up with very similar ideas to yours as to how a tool post grinding spindle with a belt connecting to remotely mounted motor could be best situated for thread grinding and the like  :smart:.(great minds think alike)

I was just thinking how best to keep the spindle & bearing housing to a minimum whilst also incorporating a simple tilting mechanism to facilitate helix angle set for coarser pitches.

I used to know a UK firm,Castle Industries, who were commercial diamond coaters and had some bits coated by them some years back.

Can't see them anywhere on Google search,do you know of any other coaters in the UK?.......OZ.
Helixes aren't always downward spirals, sometimes they're screwed up
