A lot of work and skill for, as you say a brilliant result, if it was my knife I would be scared to use it for fear of loosing the texture of the blade and destroying the finish.

JD you cant loose the pattern effectively its the steel. Sharpen up the pattern will show all the way through.

Only ever done Damascus once on a coke forge where bare minimum heat generated and took to long. Cooled off to quick as well.

Tools: Boxford CSB lathe, Chester 20v mill, Portamig 185. Lots of ideas, No motivation.
